Unit 3 - Performing Arts Business (Assignment 1)

distance is not an issue as I am willing to travel across the country to the best education I can get. I am not cutting out anything therefore I will be looking forward to apply to both drama schools and universities because at the moment I am still not sure what I want to do career wise therefore I am considering doing a joint honour in further education. Taking this option will not only keep a wider path to what I can do but also push me to work harder because I will be focusing on two courses instead of one. I think I will take an acting course or sports and exercise science course at university depending on my results in the next two years of my college duration. Below are three drama schools that I have chosen due to their reputation and distance :

i would like to do this course because i would still be in the creative media but doing another thing that i enjoy. the image of a theatre is very important because you went to a theatre that doesnt have something unique or something that captures your eye then you are not likely to go back in contrast to a theatre that has a wow factor to it. to enforce that this might be the right course for me i achieved a high grade in design btec and acting and i enjoyed the course which was my second option to do at college.

i like the distance because it is not too close from home which will force me to deal with situation that pop up by myself in contrast to if i was close to home then i will just go back home and get my mother to help me. this is also an accredited drama school which means that the training and expectation will be high. i think that being in that kind of envirioment will push me to archieve the results i can.

the university of Sussex is not far from home therefore if I wanted to stay close to home this would be ideal. the university is ranked the 10th institution recommended for drama and dance which leads me to think that it should have very high standards which puts me at an advantage as a student because it would help bring the best out of me. the course I have chosen to study is a BA (hons) in drama, theatre and performance which deals with issues and questions linked to theatre ,i think that this course would be best for me because it would not only improve my communication skills but also develop my thinking as a creative practitioner. Sussex university also offers their drama and dance students to perform at the Brighton international festival.

Birmingham university is currently ranked 1st by the guardian university guide out of hundred other universities. this university is a bit distant from home but that can be an advantage and a disadvange because it is miles away from home which enables me to deal with situations that come my way individually. The distance would mean that i would have to move out of home which means i have to provide myself accommodation and those funds used for accommodation could make a difference in paying back my student loan after my three years of study.

the trinity laban conservatoire of music and dance is in the top five gurdain university guide. this university specialises in music and dance therefore studying dance at trinity would ensure i get high intense training. this is enforced by their very impressive alumni producing some great choreographers.
